A Hidden Epidemic: HIV, Men Who Have Sex with Men and Transgender People in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Regional Consultation

This report describes the main outcomes in relation to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support needs of men who have sex with men and transgender people in eastern Europe and central Asia, and contains a set of clearly defined recommendations to guide all stakeholders in shaping the response to HIV in this important group. The consultation was organized by the United Nations’ agencies of UNDP, WHO, UNAIDS and UNFPA, and was held in Kyiv, Ukraine, in November 2010. It was attended by more than 150 people from 30 countries, including Eastern Europe, Central Asia and other countries of the European Region and the world.
