Latvia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia report first cases of influenza A(H1N1)
As of 06:00 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) on 26 June, 34 of the 53 Member States in the WHO European Region had reported a total of 5763 confirmed cases, including a fatal one, of influenza A(H1N1) virus infection to WHO/Europe. The number of reported cases rose by 74% between 19 and 26 June.
The breakdown of laboratory-confirmed cases in the European Region is: Austria (12), Belgium (36), Bulgaria (7), Cyprus (9), the Czech Republic (9), Denmark (41), Estonia (8), Finland (26), France (191)[a], Germany (333), Greece (73), Hungary (8), Iceland (4), Ireland (29), Israel (405), Italy (102), Latvia (1), Luxembourg (3), Montenegro (1), the Netherlands (116)[b] , Norway (22), Poland (13), Portugal (7), Romania (19), the Russian Federation (3), Serbia (2), Slovakia (7), Slovenia (3) Spain (541), Sweden (61), Switzerland (47), Turkey (26), Ukraine (1) and the United Kingdom (3597, including 1 death)[c].
Cases significantly increased in France, Germany, Israel, and the United Kingdom. These are associated with both institutional outbreaks and, in the United Kingdom, community transmission in some areas of the country.

[b] The total does not include 4 cases in the Netherlands Antilles: 1 in Sint Maarten and 3 in Curaçao. The latter are in crew members of a cruise ship. They did not leave the ship during their illness or the 24 hours preceding the onset of symptoms.
[c] The total does not include 11 cases in United Kingdom Overseas Territories (1 in Bermuda, 1 in the British Virgin Islands and 9 in the Cayman Islands) and 10 in United Kingdom Crown Dependencies (1 in the Isle of Man, 1 in Guernsey and 8 in Jersey).
