Armenia

Activities in Armenia will start already before the official World TB Day on March 24 and continue for several weeks following that date.

• a conference of stakeholders in the National TB Project will present progress and achievements to date and discuss opportunities for improvement;
• an educational video will be developed to raise public awareness on the early signs of TB, diagnostics and the treatment process;
• a television programme will be broadcast on 24 March;
• an official opening ceremony with nation-wide media coverage will take place on 24 March to celebrate completion of the newly renovated departments of the Republican TB Dispensary;
• as an on-going project, SMS messages will be sent to the general public on accessibility of TB medical services;
• from 26 March, renovated and furnished RTBD surgical and two therapeutic departments start to operate; 
• one-month awareness campaign on public transports; 
• training and seminars in medical colleges in Yerevan and Marzes every 3 months starting in May;
• patient education counselling;
• awareness campaign in the army through pamphlets distribution, presentations and interviews to mass media.

The Armenian Red Cross Society is also planning activities in prisons on March 24.
