Tasks of ELI core group members
Core group members of the European Laboratory Initiative (ELI):
- contribute to ELI core group members’ terms of reference;
- promote and develop technical support documents for the integration of TB, HIV and viral hepatitis laboratory services;
- promote the scale-up of TB, HIV and viral hepatitis diagnostics in the Region;
- assist in the promotion and expansion of TB, HIV and viral hepatitis laboratory capacity building and technology transfer in the Region;
- develop technical guidance for strengthening TB, HIV and viral hepatitis laboratory capacity in the Region;
- fine-tune the existing policy/guidance documents and standard operating procedures to meet the needs of all Member States of the Region;
- provide relevant technical assistance.
Requirements of ELI core group members
ELI core group members should have the following experience and skills:
- experience of working in a TB, HIV and/or viral hepatitis national clinical and/or research laboratory in the European Region;
- knowledge and understanding of WHO policies in the field of TB, HIV and viral hepatitis diagnostics, testing and treatment monitoring, as well as biosafety guidance;
- experience of translating TB, HIV and/or viral hepatitis laboratory policy guidance into laboratory practice;
- fluency in English is required, and working knowledge of another language is an asset;
- experience of working at regional or intercountry level;
- ability to negotiate and understanding of the diversity of economies and cultures of the countries of the Region;
- logistical capacity to participate in telephone conferences, webinars and communication through other virtual means.
