Sustainable financing of IHR implementation

Over 120 000 measles cases were reported between August 2018 and July 2019 – more than the total number for a 12-month period reported in the Region in over a decade. This was the trigger for WHO to scale up the response. US$ 7 million is needed for WHO and UNICEF interventions to stop the spread of this highly contagious disease in the Region. This was outlined in the Strategic Response Plan launched by WHO/Europe after the Grade 2 multicountry measles emergency was declared in May 2019.
