Synergies between emergency preparedness and response, health system strengthening and essential public health functions

Over 80 hospitals have been assessed in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Uzbekistan using the WHO Hospital Safety Index tool to ensure that they remain operational when reaching maximum capacity during and after emergencies.

More than 30 health-care workers in Albania and 18 in Georgia were trained on the development of hospital emergency response plans to better cope with the challenges of disasters and emergencies, such as the need to organize evacuations, manage mass casualties or mobilize surge capacity.
