In Torbali province of İzmir, Turkey, it is not easy for Syrian seasonal workers and refugees in improvised settlements to access health services. A team led by Dr. Pavel Ursu, WHO Representative to Turkey, and by the Provincial Health Directorate visited the area to assess the health status and needs of the workers and their families. -

Photo story – WHO medical kits reach northern Syria

Ten surgical supply kits and five trauma kits have arrived in northern Syria, as part of WHO humanitarian and emergency operations. Procured with funding support from the Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance, the surgical kits that crossed the border from Turkey last weekend contain medical supplies to cover 1000 emergency interventions and trauma kits to support 500 life-saving interventions. It is the second shipment of medical supplies for northern Syria this year, arranged through the WHO field presence in Gaziantep, Turkey. -
