What happens when countries have to respond rapidly to sudden health threats? Experiencing a sudden health emergency substantially increases a country's decision-makers' understanding of what could have been done to avoid it and to prepare for such an emergency. The purpose of this Futures Forum was to facilitate better understanding among policy-makers of the options, by hearing from colleagues who have faced sudden health emergencies in their countries, specifically heat-waves, and selected chemical and biological threats.
