Education is known to have an effect on health. But to what extent do good health and healthy behaviours contribute to educational attainment? This publication reviews current knowledge, especially in high-income countries, and finds evidence of a causal link. While gaps in research remain, these results have policy implications for the ways child health in richer countries may be used to improve educational outcomes.

This publication will be of interest to academics, practitioners and policy-makers in the areas of both education and child health.
