Call for expressions of interest in consultancy focused on data management and analysis

The Vaccine-preventable Diseases & Immunization (VPI) programme of the Division of Health Emergencies and Communicable Diseases (DEC) is accepting expressions of interest from individuals interested in working on health data management and analysis. The programme works with epidemiological, laboratory, demographic and programmatic data related to vaccine-preventable disease surveillance, management and elimination, and promotion of immunization activities in the Member States of the WHO European Region.

Several projects in existing system refactoring and new development are planned for the coming years. In addition, data quality assessments and analysis, and streamlining of existing data collection and analysis procedures are planned.

The VPI programme will engage consultants in the area of data management, data analysis, data representation and database administration. The consultancies will range from 6 to 12 months.

Place of work

Preferably UN city, Copenhagen, Denmark. However, qualified home-based candidates are encouraged to apply and will also be considered.

General considerations

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Working knowledge of Russian is a significant asset.
  • To be considered, home-based consultants must have their own computer with an internet connection adequate to facilitate working on a VPN connection to the office.

Junior data analyst

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience working with population, demography, health or other datasets
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Access)
  • Experience with writing SQL queries and working with databases
  • Experience with large datasets
  • Familiarity with statistical software packages such as STATA or R
  • Familiarity with VBA programming
  • Experience with data reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Natural curiosity to enjoy diving deep into the material to find answers to yet unknown questions
  • Demonstrated ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced work environment

Data Manager

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working with population, demography, health or other large datasets
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Access)
  • Experience with designing MS SQL databases, T-SQL programming, writing SQL queries and working with databases
  • Experience with large datasets
  • Familiarity with statistical software packages such as STATA or R
  • Familiarity with ETL and Data Warehousing concepts
  • Familiarity with VBA programming
  • Natural curiosity to enjoy diving deep into the material to find answers to yet unknown questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced work environment
  • Knowledge of statistics, regression, or other predictive methodologies a plus
