RAHEE project: methodology and timeline

Methodology

The project is implemented by staff of the WHO Representation to the European Union (in Brussels, Belgium) in collaboration with WHO country offices and external academic partners selected for their expertise in the diseases chosen for study according to their burden in disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs). A steering committee of external experts in health economics and public health oversees the implementation of the project and provides methodological input.

The project staff:

  • retrieve economic evidence from PubMed/MEDLINE using appropriate search terms based on Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and free text;
  • cross-reference economic evidence with clinical guidelines published by relevant professional and public bodies; and
  • analyse the literature in collaboration with experts in each topic, who also participate in the definition of the final research agenda.
