Promotional products such as leaflets and mugs were used to thank volunteers and raise awareness of the need for regular blood donations

On 14 June, World Blood Donor Day is celebrated throughout the world, including in Turkmenistan. This year, the country organized a dedicated campaign to highlight the importance of blood donation and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their lifesaving gifts of blood.

The event raised awareness of the need for regular blood donations to ensure that all individuals and communities have access to affordable and timely supplies of safe and quality-assured blood and blood products. This is an integral part of universal health coverage and a key component of effective health systems.

The Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan organized the campaign in collaboration with the National Blood Centre and the Ministry’s Health Information Centre, with active support from the WHO Country Office in Turkmenistan, the Turkmen State Publishing Service and the media.
