International Nurses Day celebrates cost–effectiveness of nurses

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) celebrates International Nurses Day on May 12 every year as a way to honour the vital role nurses play in healthcare, and to distribute critical information and tools to strengthen the nursing field. The 2015 theme is "Nurses: a Force for Change: Care Effective, Cost Effective", which will be shared through a toolkit containing educational and public information materials, used by nurses globally.

The International Nursing Day 2015 toolkit presents compelling data and information to reinforce the reality that global health is dependent on nurses and their full participation within the healthcare system. ICN asserts that nurses are part of the solution to achieve better health for all in a cost-effective and care-effective way. 

The toolkit also draws on global examples to display current issues around health system financing and the value of nursing.
