Health 2020 is the European health policy framework. It aims to support action across government and society to: “significantly improve the health and well-being of populations, reduce health inequalities, strengthen public health and ensure people-centred health systems that are universal, equitable, sustainable and of high quality”.  In the context of this vision the burden of malnutrition across Europe needs to be tackled properly and areas such as obesity and moderate malnutrition are to be high on WHO’s agenda for nutrition. At the same time WHO’s work will consider the importance of the impact of inequalities in nutrition and the way the burden of malnutrition can also affect the gap and increase inequalities.
