The Eurohealth Observer commemorates the life and work of Dr Concepción (Concha) Colomer Revuelta, Director of the Women’s Health Observatory of the Spanish Ministry of Health, who passed away in 2011. Her life-long work and dedication not only profoundly shaped gender mainstreaming in health policy within her native Spain, but also made a significant contribution to strategies and actions at the international level through the work of WHO, both within Europe and the Americas.

Causes and consequences: what determines our sexual and reproductive health? Entre Nous 73, 2011

How health systems can accelerate progress towards Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5 on child and maternal health by promoting gender equity (2010)
This briefing highlights the implications that gender inequity has for the achievement of MDG 4 and 5 on maternal and child health. It is a follow-up to World Health Assembly resolution 63.15, which urges Member States to renew their commitment to prevent and eliminate maternal, newborn and child mortality and morbidity and to World Health Assembly resolution 60.25 that urges WHO and Member States to integrate gender analysis into their work.
