Main principles

WHO/Europe is committed to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The right to the highest attainable standard of health and the importance of achieving quality universal health coverage underpin all of the Organization’s work.

Policy in the European Region

The Strategy and Action Plan for Refugee and Migrant Health in the WHO European Region was unanimously endorsed by the WHO Regional Committee for Europe in September 2016.

It outlines 9 strategic areas and 5 indicators to support development and monitoring of national health policies and priority areas related to refugee and migrant health. It contributed to relaunching the refugee and migrant health agenda globally through:

• the World Health Assembly resolution on promoting the health of refugees and migrants (WHA70.15) in 2017 ; and
• the Global Action Plan for Promoting the Health of Refugees and Migrants in 2019.
