Achieving universal health coverage is subject to the availability, accessibility, acceptability and quality of health workers. A health workforce aligned to population needs is critical to making progress towards universal health coverage.

Countries that host refugees and migrants strengthen the capacity of their health systems to increase access to services, including engaging refugees and migrants as health workers. The employment, integration, retention and performance of migrant health workers are key to their success in contributing to the health-care system.

This report presents the results of an assessment of job satisfaction among Syrian physicians and nurses working in refugee health centres in Turkey and the factors that influence job satisfaction. The analysis of job satisfaction in this category of migrant health workers contributes to the wider evidence on human resources for health.
