WHO Barcelona course on health systems strengthening: focus on NCDs

The Flagship Course on Health System Strengthening is an annual course at regional level, which has been delivered since 1999. To date, more than 1000 policy-makers and senior health sector managers from more than 20 countries in the European Region have attended.

In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of health system objectives and functions, the course runs with special modules which vary from year to year. Past modules have included health financing, primary health care, and private sector development. Since 2011, the course has focused on health systems and noncommunicable diseases.
