South eastern Europe Blood Safety network

The South eastern European Blood safety (SEEBS) project was initiated within the framework of the Stability pact for Social Cohesion. The 9 participating countries worked towards promoting the blood service reform and regulatory frameworks consistent with EU legislation, CoE and WHO recommendations. The project, guided by WHO/Europe between 2004-2011, led to the development of dedicated national policies and donor programmes in participating countries, and established a SEEBS professional network. Two Regional Health Development Centres have been inaugurated in 2011: for Blood safety in Oradea, Romania, and for Transplant Services in Zagreb, Croatia.
