Data and statistics
Valid, reliable and relevant disability data are essential for evidence-informed disability and rehabilitation policy. WHO/Europe is supporting Member States to collect disability and functioning data at the population level using the Model Disability Survey (MDS).
Data from the MDS provide vital information to inform the development of evidence-based national disability strategies as well as strategies to improve the health and well-being of people with disabilities. The MDS is also used to monitor progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
