Subregional workshop on antimicrobial resistance from a food safety perspective

Belgrade, Serbia, 27–28 May 2010

The first subregional workshop on antimicrobial resistance from a food safety perspective was held in Belgrade, Serbia. Selected professionals from public health, food and veterinary authorities and academia, from Croatia, Romania and Serbia, attended the workshop.

The aim of the workshop was to:

  • contribute to increased awareness of antimicrobial resistance from a food safety perspective at the national level in Croatia, Romania and Serbia;
  • address prevention strategies in regard to antimicrobial resistance in the food chain; and
  • promote national activities in regard to the annual European Antimicrobial Awareness Day (EAAD).

The workshop was organized by WHO/Europe in collaboration with WHO country offices in Croatia, Romania and Serbia. Presentations were given by WHO, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the European Food safety Authority (EFSA) and national experts from Croatia, Romania and Serbia.
