WHO/FAO national workshop on food safety risk communication
A joint WHO/Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) national workshop on food safety risk communication took place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 19 February 2016.
More than 50 specialists from the Healthy Lifestyle Centre of the Tajik Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population, the State Sanitary Epidemiology Surveillance Services and the State Veterinary Surveillance Services discussed foodborne and zoonotic diseases, focusing on botulism and anthrax.
Participants agreed to develop and implement a joint action plan to strengthen food safety risk communication targeting different population groups as part of the endeavors to strengthen prevention and control of foodborne and zoonotic diseases.
The workshop was part of WHO and FAO regional and country offices continued support to the Tajik Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population and the Ministry of Agriculture in food safety capacity building and strengthening intersectoral collaboration.
