Quantifying projected impacts under the 2°C warming scenario (IMPACT2C)

IMPACT2C is a collaborative project funded by the European Union to project and assess effects of climate change on water, energy, infrastructure, coasts, tourism, forestry, agriculture, ecosystems services, and health and air quality-climate interactions. It aims to produce and consolidate the best available evidence in order to inform political debate on setting a European goal to limit global warming to 2°C. The project began on 1 October 2012 and will conclude on 31 September 2015. 

In cooperation with partners, WHO will provide projections of the effects on health under the 1.5°C and 2°C climate change scenarios through:

• a review of the current literature;
• an assessment of the burden of disease of climate change in Europe. 

Health risks from heat and cold, extreme temperatures, flooding, infectious diseases (Salmonella, Lyme, dengue, leishmaniosis, waterborne diseases) and other emerging health risks in Europe such as allergies, occupational health, malnutrition, impacts on health services, migration, will be assessed.
