Country profiles
WHO/Europe is collecting and sharing information on Member States’ initiatives to protect their population’s health from climate change. Country profiles, based on questionnaires to national representatives, focus on:
- the key aspects of climate change with relevance for human health;
- the observed or projected health impacts;
- the approaches (health measures) taken to adapt to climate change; and
- the co-benefits for health of climate change mitigation measures.
The profiles are compiled with a view to support the development of national adaptation plans, as requested by Resolution 61.19 of the 2008 World Health Assembly, the governing body of WHO, and echoed by the European Framework for Action.
