Activities

The WHO European Region encompasses 53 Member States, each with its own unique set of achievements and challenges in the area of immunization. Together all Member States adopted the European Vaccine Action Plan 2015-2020 (EVAP), to align their efforts and ambitions in the control of serious vaccine-preventable diseases. WHO/Europe supports this diverse group in achieving the EVAP goals and objectives.

In cooperation with Member States and partners, WHO/Europe helps strengthen national immunization programmes through capacity building, technical support for the introduction of new vaccines, improvements in laboratory work and enhancements in surveillance and information sharing.

It also works to equip Member States with tools to help immunization programmes maintain demand for vaccines and develop more targeted and tailored methods to provide equitable access to them.

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Patron of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, contributes to these efforts by raising public awareness about immunization as part of her support for the work of WHO/Europe.
